As a part of my professional development, I volunteered to teach a writing course provided to Boston area high school free of charge through Emerson College. The program is dutifully titled: EmersonWrites.
My coteacher, Amy F. and I focused on teaching the craft/terminology of poetry through spoken word, poetry slams, music, and the life of everyday language.
We love(d) our class
We even supported and helped prepare them for Massachusetts’ first statewide Louder Than A Bomb poetry slam.
Now, their work will be published over at: Necessary Fiction the entire month of May. You can check out their group poem performed in the slam along with pics later in the month.
But this week’s post is a great student of ours, Serina G with an intro written by Amy. Please check it out and support: Serina’s 2 Poems
(IT’S THE POETRY THAT MATTERS)!!
Go EmersonWRITES!!
